is likely to follow, except this time you'll be the one in charge of your own destiny. As has been proven time and again through studies, children respond well when playing pretend with their friends over even by themselves. Seeing as how Star Wars has been a fertile ground for many an imagination for over thirty years, it only makes sense that many kids want to be a part of that vast universe.
The Jedi Knight
With a Jedi costume, children can feel a part of the fantastic legacy of the Jedi knights. As is said in A New Hope, the Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy for many a year before the rise of the Empire. As seen in such expanded universe fiction as the Knights of the Old Republic, the Jedi were a powerful force in the galaxy. This was true up until the time of Chancellor Palpatine's rise to power, which eventually led to their extinction.
Notable Knights
Dressing up in an authentic Jedi knight costume can mean playing the part of a brand new Jedi or taking up the role of one of Star Wars' many established characters. The Jedi characters take front and center in most of the movies, with Qui-Gonn Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker dominating the prequel era. Kenobi, as well as wise old master Yoda return for the classic trilogy, even as Anakin has long crossed to the dark side. Of course, the classic trilogy wouldn't be complete without the coming of age of Luke Skywalker, who learns to truly find the delicate balance in the Force and climb his way to the defeat of the evil Empire.
For children, dressing up as an early trainee is also made possible by some key scenes in the prequel films. A Jedi childrens costume can be used to play one of the established stars of the series, or to take up the role of a youngling, the small trainees being guided by Yoda in the film Attack of the Clones. Some of these children, of course, were to meet a tragic fate in Revenge of the Sith, but when playing Star Wars at home, the story is yours to create and recreate as you see fit.
